Tour in brief
- Starts with a thrilling catamaran ride into the Indian Ocean and watching traditional ways of fishing and experimenting with lagoon fishing.
- This will be followed by a visit to the busy Negombo fish market called the ‘Lellama’ located close to the Dutch Fort. Take in the vibrant community singing, shouting and getting on with business which starts from around 3.00 a.m., and indulge in buying your own selection of fish - to add to the lunch seafood platter.
- Come lunchtime, you will be taken to a restaurant where you can either watch the chef prepare the seafood platter for you or you can join him in cooking the fish yourself.
- Your city visit will be done during this time as well.
- After a sumptuous lunch, you will set off for a boat ride in the Negombo Lagoon, which is a labyrinth of rivers and a canal system. The lagoon has an expansive mangrove swamp with its inhabitants of water birds such as herons, terns, cormorants and shorebirds.
- Transfers in between sites are done in a tuk-tuk giving you the chance to see and interact with the local communities.

Negombo is a coastal town with the Indian Ocean lapping on her shores. It is a favoured spot as a Sri Lanka diving tour destination. Visiting Negombo during the off monsoon season is ideal for diving and plunging into a world of marine life – with many diving sites to choose from. Ship wrecks are a plus to be seen too.

Schools of Barracuda, Blue Stripe Snappers, Honey Comb Moray, Oriental Sweet Lips and Yellow Jack, are just some of the fish that could be seen.
