Daily itinerary:
Day 1:
Upon landing, you will meet your chauffeur cum guide who will take you to the Walawwa Boutique Hotel in Katunayake for your first night in Sri Lanka. Wake up in the charm of 5 acres of tropically landscaped gardens with a personal butler and a treat into the spa to have you rejuvenated for the start of your vacation.
Day 2:
Leave for Wilpattu National Park, housing exotic flora and fauna as well as being abundant with local wildlife. Stay at the Mahoora Elite Tented Safari Campsite, offering you a one of a kind, authentic and luxurious tented camping experience. Feast on the local flavors for a great lunch overlooking Wilpattu, and go on an exciting evening safari in the park to catch a glimpse of the animals who call this park their home.
Day 3:
After breakfast at Mahoora, go on a full day safari inclusive of lunch at the Wilpattu National Park and gain more knowledge on the intimate parts of the park and its inhabitant. Afterwards go on a private leopard safari in the evening and try to catch a glimpse of this magnificent wild cat amongst other jungle inhabitants. To end an exciting day, cap it off with a warm campsite dinner next to a roaring fire.
Day 4:
Head over to Sigiriya but first take a stop to explore the glorious history of Anuradhapura, dating back to the 4th century BC and learn about Sri Lanka’s first capital of the Rajarata Kingdom and view its well preserved historical and cultural sites. Spend the night at the Wild Grass Hotel in Sigiriya, nestled in the heart of a forest while you dine and rest in this stunning slice of utopia and revel in its luxuries.
Day 5:
After a morning of relaxation, you will be taken on a tour of Sigiriya, the castle of King Kasyapa post breakfast. Sigiriya is listed as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites and is famous for its rock fortress that holds several archeologically important features such as its baths, garden and frescos which is considered as a prime example for ancient urban planning. Afterwards, you can even visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa which is Sri Lanka’s second oldest kingdom before heading back to the comfort of the Wild Grass Hotel.
Day 6:
During the season of October to March, you have the option of taking a hot air balloon tour of Sigiriya.
After the final breakfast at Sigiriya, you will be heading towards the hill capital of Kandy, the last kingdom of Sri Lanka. En route to Kandy, take a pit stop at the Dambulla Cave Temple and Matale spice Garden should you wish.
Once you arrive at the hill capital, take a tour of the Temple of the Tooth Relic and experience the city ozzing with rich culture and history. End the day at the serene Elephant Stables Hotel, a bungalow built during the times of colonial Ceylon, now converted into a beautique hotel.
Day 7:
Rich in history and culture, explore the city of Kandy on a full day tour. The city is significant for both historic and religious reasons and is one of the most important cities for Buddhists around the world. End your day while basking in the lap of luxury back at the hotel.
Day 8:
After an early breakfast, enjoy a comfortable air conditioned train ride to Sri Lanka’s tea country through the picturesque hills. Rendezvous with your guide at the Nanu Oya train station and be chauffeured to Ceylon Tea Trails, a lavish colonial resort which is also Sri Lanka’s first ever Realise & Chateaux resort to spend rest and have a night cap.
Day 9:
After a well relaxed night at Ceylon Tea Trails, you will be taken on an tour of the tea production process with the resident tea planter as well as a guided tour of the tea factory. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the stunning tea gardens and learn more about the world famous Ceylon Tea! Afterwards you will head back to the hotel to be spoiled by a lavish spa treatment or engage in other fun excursions on offer; whichever you prefer!
Day 10:
Take a break from the hills and you will be headed down south to Unawatuna, having some of the best beaches in the country to enjoy the golden sand and clear blue ocean of Sri Lanka. Stay over at the Fortress Resort & Spa with ocean view rooms and enter a world of stylish sophistication for the perfect spot to relax and unwind.
Day 11:
Bask in the golden sandy beach and indulge yourself in some tropical luxury to discover why Sri Lanka is celebrated as an island paradise! Or opt to stay in the hotel and revel in its luxurious services and either way recharge yourself!
Day 12:
Indulge yourself with tropical meals, lazing around in the beach, snorkeling and exploring the coral reef abundant with exotic marine life or swim with colorful fish! Take a walk down the cobblestone streets of the Galle Fort initially built by the Portuguese and later fortified by the Dutch to watch the sun set around this beautiful structure of architectural and cultural influence. Afterwards, head back to the Fortress Resort to enjoy your final night’s stay in the south of Sri Lanka.
Day 13:
And last but not least, when in Sri Lanka one simply must explore the commercial capital of the country. Spend your final night at Tintagel Colombo, a premier boutique hotel located in Colombo’s most elite neighborhood offering tastefully designed suites in a heritage structure that has previously housed three of Sri Lanka’s political leaders. Located in a central part of the city, the hotel serves as the perfect location for you to further explore the capital city.
Day 14:
On the final day, you will be transferred back to the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake in time to catch your flight back home bringing your exciting vacation to an end but leaving you with many fond memories and a great tan!
